James Cameron with Golden Globe Award


Hollywood director James Cameron believes in creating history. Once again “The Perfectionist” Cameron has scooped the best director award at the Golden Globe for his 3-D science fiction film “Avatar”. Golden Globe Awards 2010, the most prestigious award ceremony took place in California, United States.
It was the second Golden Globe directing honor for Cameron. Earlier he had won the same category award for his master piece “Titanic”. “Avatar” stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang in the lead roles. Reportedly, the film is still going strong at the international- box office and has already cashed $1.3 billion.
Cameron received the ‘award’ from dashing Mel Gibson. After getting the award he said, “I wasn’t well prepared for this. I thought Kathryn (Bigelow) will win this award, but I am grateful to everyone on behalf of all my artists and actors; I also want to thank Susan, my partner, for being patient with me”.
The nominations for the same category were, Kathryn Bigelow for “The Hurt Locker”, Clint Eastwood for “Invictus”, Jason Reitman “Up In The Air” and Quentin Tarantino for “Inglourious Basterds”.
The film has been considered as a cinematic milestone for the use of specially developed 3-D cameras and motion capture technology.
All we can say is this is just the start; there is a lot more to come for “Avatar”.
