The 62 year old musician gave this remark on Jesus Christ in his new online interview on Parade.com as part of an article which will appear in the website’s sister weekend magazine. Now the “Rocket Man” hit maker is facing the wrath of fuming bloggers and ‘tweeters’.

According to the latest celebrity news, in his article, Elton John said, “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.”

He added, “On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel.”

His remarks have led to a wave of criticism from everywhere specially from online critics.

One online user writes, “John is now the authority on Christ? Jesus Christ was as gay as Saddam Hussein is alive.”

A blogger rhardin tells Fox News’ 411 blog, “I will never listen to this man’s music again. How dare he speak of my Lord in such a disgraceful way. He should not speak on things he knows nothing about. I hope and pray that all Christians will take a stand on this one. Elton John’s lifestyle speaks for itself.”

Meanwhile, bobj72 tells TheDailyBeast.com, “While I have had some appreciation for Elton John’s music… he could not be further from the truth on this matter regarding Jesus. It is clearly stated in Leviticus 18:22, 23; that Christ sees homosexuality as an abomination.”

Andrew Koenig missing in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Police are asking for the public's help in locating actor Andrew Koenig, who had a recurring role on the 1980s sitcom "Growing Pains."
Vancouver police say Koenig was visiting friends in West Vancouver when he went missing. He was last seen on Feb. 14.
A statement released by the police department says Koenig "has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being."
Koenig, 41, lives in Venice, Calif., but at one time lived in Vancouver. He is the son of Walter Koenig, who played Chekov on the "Star Trek" television series and movies.
On "Growing Pains" Koenig played Boner, a pal of star Kirk Cameron's character Mike.

Famous Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has waned journalists who are spreading rumors about his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai’s health. The Angry Old (young) Man called it “the lowest quality of journalism”.

Big B was very annoyed with the article, published in Mumbai Mirror, on Thursday. The article alleged that Aishwarya had been trying to conceive for a long time but was unable to do so because of stomach tuberculosis. But Amitabh said this was totally false.

The 67 year old actor said that, if anyone spoke derogatorily about her, he would fight till his last breath.

Big B posted a message on his blog site, “I am too incensed and angered by the contents above! Not a single portion of the article is true…I am the head of my family. Aishwarya is not my daughter-in-law, she is my daughter, a woman, a lady in my house and home.”

He also wrote, “If anyone will speak derogatorily about her, I shall fight for her till my last breath. If you have something to say to the men in the house, Abhishek or me, I shall bear it. But, if you shall make injudicious remarks on the women in my home, I shall not tolerate it”.

The veteran actor posted a copy of the article on his blog and branded the news “completely false, completely fabricated, unsubstantiated, insensitive and of the lowest quality of journalism there ever was"

According to the reports, the Los Angeles City Attorney has filed two misdemeanor counts, battery and vandalism against the actor.

If, the Milk actor is found guilty on both counts, he could face imprisonment for 1 and 1/2 years.

“Charlie’s Angels” to recreate the magic of action packed drama on small screen.

According to the celebrity news, ‘The Wedding Singer’ star Barrymore has produced and starred in two film adaptations of the 1970s show and now she’s breathing new life into the franchise, which launched Farrah Fawcett’s career, by reviving it on TV.

Barrymore is currently searching for a new trio of stunning beauties for the role of crime fighters. She has insisted that they must be “incredibly capable, but not take themselves too seriously. That’s a tough combination to find”.

Director McG, who directed Barrymore in her movie Charlie’s Angels, will serve as consultant on the project and is aiming to diversify the team of secret agents.

Talking about his ex girlfriend Jennifer, Mayer said, “Yes, always. I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last,” John said. “In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can’t change the fact that I need to be 32.”

The rocker did not reveal whether his latest album, “Battle Studies,” is about Jen or not, but says he hopes his music will relate to everyone’s lives.

He told reporter, “I feel bad because people think ‘Heartbreak Warfare’ is about [Jen]. I want to go on record saying it’s not. That woman would never use heartbreak warfare. That woman was the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person. When people hear the record, I hope the songs make them think about their lives, not my life.”

He added, “We just have a regard for each other’s feelings that is pretty intense. It’s been a deep relationship, and it’s no longer taking place at all. Have you ever loved somebody, loved her completely, but had to end the relationship for life reasons?”

‘My Name Is Khan' won’t make a statement: SRK

It has some religion, a bit of politics and it’s set in the backdrop of a world shaking event, but for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan his latest venture is not so much about Islam post-9/11 as it is entertainment.
“The film is mainly entertainment,” Shah Rukh said in a lengthy interview with IANS over the phone from New York on a trip last week to promote his new film, My Name Is Khan (MNIK), releasing in the US Feb 12.
“If some issue is taken back home, I always tell people if they can take back a little more than an empty pack of popcorn, that’s interesting…that’s an added advantage to an entertaining film.”
Shah Rukh, who plays a Muslim Indian with Asperger’s syndrome living in the US, finding his marriage to a Hindu single mother (played by Kajol) crumbling post-9/11, wouldn’t agree that it’s the Islam angle that is grabbing the most attention in the US.
“A film normally deals with lots of issues, comedy, or it’s a tragedy or a serious film or a dramatic love story like …Khan is meant to be,” he said. “If one starts talking or deciding on issues before a whole film is seen, it’s kinda not right to do, specially as a filmmaker.
“Normally, a film is more than the sum of its parts. It’s not like it’s a love story, it’s got a Karan Johar touch to social cinema, it has an angle of religion, it also has a part of politics, it has a world-shaking incident as a backdrop, it also has a lot of sweet songs. It combines all that.
“To me as a filmmaker, or part of a film, any aspect of the film can only be decided once one has seen the whole film. But there’s no denying that there is an aspect of religion in the film.”
Nor would Shah Rukh look at this and other recent Bollywood films about the fate of Indian Muslims in the US post-9/11 as an effort to redress any negative images people may have formed about Islam over the last nine years.
“Films normally are for entertainment. One doesn’t really make a conscious decision to make a statement with it. Within entertainment, if a statement gets made, it’s really nice for a filmmaker.
“You know, maybe 3 Idiots talks about education, but it’s an entertaining film. Similarly Chak De! India talks about patriotism, but it’s a sports film.
“You can have issues related in a film, but when filmmakers of commercial proportions like Karan, myself and Kajol and all get together, it’s not to highlight an issue because it’s too expensive as a commercial venture to make a film about an issue and not entertain.”
To Shah Rukh, “the most interesting part of the fact as an actor is that I’m playing a character who’s got Asperger’s. It’s also not in any which way to show it in a light which is not nice…but for an actor that’s a great thing to do, you know, to play a (person with a) disorder like this which very few people know about.”
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to convince people about it when they see (the film). I don’t think at least commercial filmmakers from India really make a big-time film which is localised or even localised by an international issue,” he said.
“Commercial we will only know once the film releases,” said Shah Rukh when asked if MNIK isn’t one of Karan Johar’s least commercial offerings so far.
“…Yes, the only thing it has amiss is big set dance pieces, but we just felt with the disorder we were dealing with, it would look very unrealistic for the character Rizwan Khan to indulge in dancing of the order of we normally see in a Hindi film of Karan’s, or you might have seen earlier.
“Except for that, I think the venture is extremely commercial,” he said.
“In the last five years, there’s a whole paradigm shift as to what people accept as a commercial film,” Shah Rukh said describing it as “Karan’s evolution from making and keeping up with the trends of new commercial cinema in India and elsewhere”.
On professional challenges he faced during its filming, Shah Rukh said it was a “very difficult” character to play. “If I was to just put it simply, it’s very seldom that I’ve really gone ahead and played a character which exists in real life.
“And whenever you’re dealing with a disorder or a near…atypical situation, the first thought is that the sort of parameters you have to set that in no which way you are derogatory or deriding the disorder.
“You have to make the protagonist very proud of what it is. The second part is you have to come as close to reality in depicting that characterisation and so one had to study a lot and one does get worried…”
But a couple of people affected with the same disorder who were shown the film had told them “…it’s a great portrayal, it’s very close to someone with this kind of disorder”.
“Of course, having said that, I have taken a few cinematic liberties with it, because I’ve used three or four traits which may not exist simultaneously in one person and tried to create one character who has Asperger’s, called Rizwan Khan.”

‘Dear John’ Replaces ‘Avatar’ from No1 Position

Latest released movie ‘Dear John’ has finally replaced sci-fi love story “Avatar” from no. 1 position.

According to the latest news, Sony’s Screen Gems banner, “Dear John” collected $32.4 million in the debut weekend and broke Avatar’s seven week long spell.

The film has a record opening for Super Bowl weekend, topping the $31.1 million debut for Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in 2008.

Head of distribution of Sony Studio, Rory Bruer said, “It is very cool to know that it was our movie that audiences just totally embraced and made No. 1 for the weekend.” About blockbuster “Avatar,” he quipped, “I think they’re going to be fine in the long run.”

Director James Cameron’s “Avatar” slipped to No. 2 with $23.6 million, raising its domestic total to $630.1 million.

Talking about loosing the top position, 20th Century Fox distribution executive Bert Livingston said, “It had to happen sometime. There’s nothing that could disappoint me with this movie.”

Most Hollywood movies usually dropped out of the top 10 rankings by the eighth weekend but “Avatar” is still going strong.

‘Dear John’ is the American romantic drama/war film starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. The movie is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. The romantic saga of Soldier suits the flavor of this Valentine week.

The other releases of this week are Lionsgate’s spy story “From Paris With Love,” and Fox Searchlight’s acclaimed country-music tale “Crazy Heart”. According to the box office collection the current top 10 movie are:

“I will not Bow Down to Sena’s Protests” Said Shah Rukh

According to the news, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has declared the he would not bow down to the Shiv Sena’s protests.

Shah Rukh is facing anger of ‘Shiv Sena’ because of his statement in which he said that Pakistani cricketers should be included in the third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Recently on Sunday some ‘Shiv Sena’ activists, protested near Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai but they were nabbed by police.

After which Mr. Khan said, “I will not bow down to Sena’s protests. I said whatever I think as a proud, righteous Indian,” he said. “I stand on my views on Pakistani players in Indian Premiere League 3.”

In reply to Shah Rukh’s statements, Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab said, “Our leader Balasaheb Thackeray had warned Shah Rukh not to hire Pakistani cricketers. As long as Pakistan continues to sponsor terrorism in India, we will not let any Pakistani player in India.”

But, Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil warned Shiva Sena and said, “Shiv Sena will have to pay through its nose if it indulges in ransacking or disturbing theaters screening movies of actor Shah Rukh Khan.”

Though Shiv Sena has threatened Shah Rukh of continuous agitation but SRK is not ready to bend down against their illegal threats.

The famous American vocal band Backstreet Boys and legendary singer Richard Marx are set to perform in India. They are coming to perform in annual Rock ‘n India mega music festival in Delhi on February 20.

The Grammy-nominated Backstreet Boys have been together since 1993. They have given hits like ‘Quit playing games with my heart’, ‘Straight through my heart’ and ‘As long as you love me’. Whereas Marx has sold over 30 million albums in over 20 years and written hit songs like ‘Right here waiting for you’, ‘Hold on to the nights’ and ‘Endless summer nights’.

The Bangalore-based annual Rock ‘n India music festival has earlier been graced by international bands like Megadeth, Machine Head and Iron Maiden. And now it is being held in the capital for the first time. It will also be held in Bangalore after Delhi.

Divisional Vice President of United Spirits, Mr. Debashish Shyam told reporters, “We are brining Romanov Red Rock ‘N India to Delhi for the first time this year and what’s more this year will be even more exciting as music legends from different musical genres will rub their shoulders together so that fans can chase their passion for the best of national and international music.”

Romanov Red, a product of United Spirits, is the official sponsor of the music festival in association with Force India, Pepsi, VH1, Hindustan Times and Daily News and Analysis.

The festival will be held at NSIC Grounds, on February 20 in New Delhi, followed by a show in Bangalore on February 22 at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds.

According to reports, Benitez has also blamed that Hilton has paid people, including his family members, to play ‘games’ on him and stop him from getting a job.

Benitez filed a request for a temporary restraining order at the Los Angeles Superior Court last week but a judge has denied the request.

Next Harry Potter Movie in 3D


Harry Potter to Release in 3DOscar-nominated film “Avatar” has started the trend of using 3 dimensional technologies in the fantasy movies. First ‘Star Wars’ and now Harry Potter movie is going to use 3-D format.

According to the reports, the next Harry Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will feature Daniel Radcliffe and co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson’s characters in 3D. The movie is set for release in summer of 2011.

She said, “Thank you so much. This has been such an amazing night for me and I’d love to thank the Grammys. I’d like to thank all of the fans for their support over the years.”

The Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” was key song which made “Halo” to win record of the year.

Beyonce already won five Grammys in 2004 for her debut album “Dangerously in Love”. Earlier Alicia Keys, Norah Jones and Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Alison Krauss have won 5 Grammy awards, but Beyonce became the first one who first reached that mark twice.

She also won the songwriting award along with the three writers for her song “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” The sensational singer also won best R&B contemporary album for “I Am … Sasha Fierce”, her song “At Last” was named best traditional R&B vocal performance.

Leslie Kenton “I Was Raped by My Dad”

Famous beauty expert Leslie Kenton has revealed in her new memoir “Love Affair” that she was raped by her own father when she was 11 and that the secret incest lasted until she was 13.

According to website reports, four years ago, Kenton first contemplated writing about her childhood and “Love Affair” in which she gave full account of the horrors and the secret incest relation.

Leslie told reporters, “My friend Gail Rebuck, who was my first editor and is now the chairman of Random House, told me, ‘You need to write a memoir.’ I said, ‘Gail, I can’t. No one would believe it, and the tabloids would go wild.’ And Gail said, ‘Who cares? This book will be the bridge between what you have done before and the work you will do afterwards.’”

The beauty guru is considered as the priestess of the real beauty movement for decades. She advocated high-raw, high-vegetable diets and detoxifying, way back in the 70’s. She had created the Origins range and imported the skincare tablet Imedeen to Britain. Leslie has made her brilliant present from a murkier past.

Talking about the book, Kenton said: “It ripped me to shreds”.

In the book she has wrote about the summer of 1952, when she met her father Stanley on his dance tour, sharing his hotel room, sleeping back to back. He was heavy drinker and Kenton who was just 10 was trying to control her dad. He was, in many ways, treating her as a substitute for his wife Violet. One night the final boundary was crossed and he raped his daughter. It was the beginning of an incestuous relationship that lasted until she was 13.

Throwing light on their relation Kenton said, “I believe he tried his best to resist touching me. Then, drowning in a sea of alcohol, he would come to my bed, only to deny the next morning that he’d been there. This was not cynical. Stanley had become so skilled in keeping secrets he could hide his guiltiest one even from himself.”

Kenton who did not blame her father for incestuous relationship said, “He was born into guilt. As a child, he was taught by his mother, ‘There’s something wrong with you, Stanley.’ From talking to relatives, Leslie has learnt of a highly dysfunctional family with a history of manipulation, neglect and bizarre cult-like rituals.”

“I do not know how to express the damage that a family like this does. This is a disease that’s passed on. Some people survive it and others are deeply damaged.”

According to Kenton she thinks that her father experienced a condition known as dissociative identity disorder, involving selective amnesia, which she also developed as she blocked out the incest.

While working on the book, Kenton retreated to her rambling house perched atop an extinct volcano on New Zealand’s South Island.

Kenton dedicated her book “Love Affair” to her father. In the tribute she has written, “For Stanley, with all my love”.

Famous Bollywood music composer A.R Rahman has won two Grammy Awards for his song ‘Jai Ho’ of the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. First Oscar and now Grammy Awards, Rahman has told the world that Bollywood is no less than Hollywood.

The 44 year old Indian composer won the awards at the dazzling 52nd Annual Grammy awards ceremony in Los Angeles. He won two Grammy in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for a motion picture and the Best Motion Picture Song categories. Excited but humble, Rahman said, “This is insane, god is great again”.

This was the special moment for Rahman, as he was nominated first time in Grammy Awards and won 2 awards together. Though, Grammy Awards are familiar with many legendry Indian classical musicians like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Jussain, Vikku Vinayak and Vishvamohan Bhatt who had already won the Grammy in the past. But this was the first time when any Bollywood musician won the prestigious Grammy Awards.

Rahman’s song ‘Jai Ho’, sung by Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Vijay Prakash and Rahman, became an international hit last year. Steve Jordan for ‘Cadillac Records,’ Quentin Tarantino for ‘Inglourious Basterds’ gave tough competition to Rahman in best soundtrack category.

In the best song category Rahman faced competition from international Crooner Bruce Springsteen for his song ‘The Wrestler’. But outshining all the competitors, Rahman walked away with both the Grammy Awards.

Recently at a shoot, both these girls exchanged cold stares even before Katrina walked out. Both of them were not in the mood of acknowledging each other. Apparently, Ranbir Kapoor became close friends with Katrina Kaif when he was dating Deepika.

On Wednesday, Dips was busy with a magazine photo shoot in the Mehboob Studio open area. An eyewitness who was watching all this says, “Deepika had come with Farhan Akhtar for her photo shoot. Somewhere around late afternoon, Deepika was giving her solo shots in the garden area of the studio. While Deepika was doing her last minute touch-up, there was pin drop silence and all eyes swiveled to the entrance. It was Katrina Kaif, who had accidentally walked in, thinking it was the venue where she was called for the shoot. She was dressed in a short white skirt and a pink tee, Katrnia walked in and froze for a second. Deepika, who was standing some distance away, saw her. Both had a few seconds of eye contact, and Katrina immediately took a U-turn and walked away.”

It was not surprising at all considering their history. A close source revealed, “Although Ranbir and Deepika are not seeing each other anymore, the latter still has issues with Katrina. It was the growing friendship between Katrina and Ranbir which marked an end to her relationship.” When asked Katrina and Deepika about this incident they were both unavailable for the comment.

Teaching is a noble profession.

But does it hold true today? Hasn’t education succumbed to modernization as everything else, which is ruled by commercialization and consumerism in this age of rat-race? We read in the newspapers about students being bogged down under study pressures, parents burdened with fees hikes, teachers punishing students inhumanly, some students even dying in such cases or some committing suicides… what state of affairs have we brought our education system to?

Paathshala tries to answer many such questions related to the sanctity of today’s education system. It sheds light on the shortcomings and wrong doings in today’s schools where the high morals and basic ethics associated with the teaching profession seem to have taken a back seat. It’s shameful that even schooling has fallen prey to the pressures of competition and the vices of money-making mantra. Paathshala attempts to challenge such notions that threaten our children’s future and thus our society.

The story begins with a new English Teacher Rahul Prakash Udyavar( Shahid Kapoor) joining Swaraswati Vidya Mandir school, situated in the outskirts of Mumbai Suburbs. Though he strikes instant rapport with students and teachers alike, he realizes that there is something amiss in the school. Slowly his doubts prove true as the School Manager- Sharma (Saurbh Shukla) makes many monetary obligations compulsory on the parents in the name of extracurricular activities. He goes to the extent of punishing the students inhumanly when the new unjustified demands of the school are not fulfilled by the parents.

When Rahul Udyawar unifies the teachers (Ayesha Takia, Sushant Singh, Kurush Deboo) against the atrocities of school management, the Principal Aditya Sahay (Nana Patekar) defends the management decision. This comes as a shocker to the teachers as Mr. Sahay is known for his dedication as an educationist for last 32 years which has built the school’s high reputation.

The situation becomes graver as school management becomes overambitious with its growth and involves media planners in the extracurricular activities. This demands the involvement of students in TV reality shows and many other media PR activities used for building up the school image in public which starts reflecting on the students’ stress levels. The pressure on young minds increases incredibly leading to unexpected and grim consequences.

Caught in the web of commercialization and internal rebellion, the school’s situation becomes so explosive that it finally becomes a national issue.

Paathshala challenges the increasing immoralities and unethical practices in our education system. It analyses intricately the relationship between students, teachers and the education system with sensitivity and sensibility… It reflects the true spirit of an education system.

Shahrukh Wanted to recruit Pak players

   

Kolkata Knight Riders have exhausted their quota of foreign cricketers but they would have loved to have Pakistani players in their ranks, co-owner of the IPL franchisee Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan said today.
“We did have a number of them in the first IPL and in the second, no Pakistani player was allowed to play. This year, we don’t have any more slot left. But if we had and they are made available legally, we would have loved to have them,” the actor said.
“We had one slot this year and we took Shane Bond, because we needed a fast bowler. We would have loved to have any player from any country which would boost our team,” Shah Rukh said.
Lamenting the snub that the Pakistani player received in the January 19 auction, Shah Rukh Khan said they should have been welcomed.
“If there was any issue, that could have been solved in a fairly, nice manner. I believe my country stands for democracy and goodness and we should invite everyone.
“I never involve myself in politics — in films or in sports. We are a wonderful democratic, happy an secular country and that’’s how it should be,” he said.

Written by Rohit Banawlikar ‘Rann’ is a social drama which is woven around the founder of a private news channel 24/7, Vijay Harshvardhan Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) who is a hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics. Vijay’s struggling channel is looked after by his son Jay Malik (Sudeep). Jay considers her father’s news channel purely as a business enterprise that must make profits to survive.

Vijay’s rival Amrish Kakkar (Mohnish Bahl) who was once his employee is gaining profits by making the news sensational.

The twist in the story comes when corrupt politician, Mohan Pandey (Paresh Rawal), a Prime Minister position aspirant, decides to use the channel 24/7 for his own advantage by using Vijay’s son-in-law Navin (Rajat Kapoor).

Navin who wants to be No 1 industrialist persuades Jay to make a deal with Pandey. The climax of the film is filled with great dialogues and powerful performance from Big B.

Performances of all the actors are good. Amitabh Bachchan has done full justice with his character and his dialogue delivery is quite impressive. Another actor who made his mark is Sudeep. Ritesh Deshmukh is nice in his role. But his part as investigator looks a bit confusing in the film.

Paresh Rawal, who enters in Ramu’s camp after a long gap, has delivered tremendous performance in a negative role. Rajat Kapoor is flawless. Mohnish Bahl too has given a wonderful performance.

Other actors like Neetu Chandra, Gul Panag, Nina Kulkarni, Simone Singh and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy are average. Rajpal Yadav has done a good job of adding some funny touch to a serious movie.

The strength of the film is its strong story and powerful performance. Solid dialogues are one more plus point of the film. The cinematography of Amit Roy is quite noticeable. Direction of RGV is amazing as usual. Background score of the film is impressive and music is good.

The movie gets heavy at some points which can causes boredom. There is no masala in the film so people who like light-hearted and fun-filled cinema might not appreciate the film much.

The two sensational singers created a stir around the world when they kissed in the opening number for the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. The U.K. department store Selfridges has branded the kiss the most iconic of the 2000s.

Tobey Maguire’s passionate smooch with Kirsten Dunst in 2002’s Spider-Man came second in the list of Kiss of Decade, while Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal’s slow-burning song in ‘Brokeback Mountain’ in 2005 landed on third place.

Review of ‘Ishqiya’

Produced by Vishal Bhardwaj “Ishqiya” is another out standing movie set on the backdrop of Western Uttar Pradesh, Gorakhpur. The movie which was released on this Friday is directed by debutant director Abhishek Chaubey.

Written by Vishal Bhardwaj, Abhishek Chaubey and Sabrina Dhawan, Ishqiya is a story of love triangle between two thieves (Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi) and a widow (Vidya Balan).

Film starts with Naseeruddin Shah (Khalujaan) and Arshad Warsi (Babban), two thieves of Uttar Pradesh, running from their boss after taking off all his money. They both reach Gorakhpur, to meet an old friend but discover that he is dead. His widow, Krishna (Vidya Balan) gives them shelter. After which the story of complicated love triangle with the series of kidnappings, deaths and blow-ups starts. The climax of the film is unconventional and surprising.

On the acting front, all the three actors have given good performances. Talented actor Naseeruddin Shah as Khalujaan, 51 year old thief in the film has done full justice with his character as was expected. He has wonderfully depicted the emotion of aging lover who wants to live a peaceful life after spending many years in the world of guns and gangsters.

Arshad Warsi who is considered as the average actor, surprised everyone, he looked very convincing as young thief from Uttar Pradesh. Last but not least Vidya as Krishna has given tremendous performance. She played the role of sexy, deceptive women who seduces both men cunningly and uses them to fulfill her intentions.

Director Abhishek Chaubey made the film with full conviction and created an interesting drama with new twists. He has very tactfully served a spicy treat of comedy and suspense before audience.

Cinematographer Mohana Krishna Agapu has done marvelous job. The background score and music of film is quite nice and Vishal Bhardwaj has composed nice songs with catchy folk music touch.

The movie is sure to attract a lot of audiences specially the young college going students but some parts of the movie in which some abusive words have been used might seem offensive to family audience.

Sandra Bullock Hires Detectives to Find Her Dog

Renowned Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock has hired a detective. No, not for disclosing her husband’s secretes but to find out her missing pet dog Cinnabun.

According to the reports Sandra and her husband Jesse James hired pet detective Colleen Busch from agency Find Toto. Colleen Busch told reporters, “I’m in contact with Sandra and Jesse all day. We’ve been going back and forth checking on tips.”

The couple’s pet went missing from their house, Seal Beach, California, since January 25. Along with hiring a detective, the couple has started an online campaign to raise awareness of the missing pet and help bring her home safely.

James who runs West Coast Choppers Motorcycle Company wrote a massage on company’s website, appealing: “We’ve had a few leads, but all dead ends so far, but the search is still definitely on. She’s a great little dog, and we want to find her as soon as possible.”

He added, “Please keep your eyes out for our little gal, she’s a light brown and white pit bull, 9 months old, cropped ears, full tail, hazel eyes. Last seen wearing a large pink collar near West Coast Choppers and Cisco Burger on Anaheim St./710 Freeway in Long Beach.”

James has also offered a USD 2,000 reward to anyone who safely returns the dog.

‘Ishqiya’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate without Cuts

‘Ishqiya’ has created buzz due to its intense scenes and foul language. But surprisingly, the film got ‘A’ certificate from Indian film sensor board without any cuts!
Director of the film Abhishek Choubey told reporters, “Frankly, I expected I’d be asked for some kind of an explanation for the language and content and why they were necessary. I had gone prepared with dossiers on every graphic word and shot. To my surprise I wasn’t asked for any explanation. I was given an ‘Adults’ certificate with no cuts at all. I guess it’s a sign of how far censorship has come in our country.”
Though censor board apparently had some problems related to the language and some scenes but finally saw the reasons. And later on they passed the film.
Director Abhishek explained, “I never claimed the film was for children. The content is adult. So I’ve no problem with the ‘A’ certificate. I feel the profile of the audience is changing swiftly.”
Abhishek also added that the language is not as strong as people think. “It’s not about creating shock value. It’s the way these people in the small North Indian towns live their life.”
Produced by Raman Maroo and Vishal Bharadwaj, ‘Ishqiya’ has stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan in the lead roles.

Anil Kapoor Wants to Show his Acclaimed Act in ‘24’ to India

Renowned Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has got enthusiastic reviews from the American media for his act in the drama series ‘24’. Anil wants to show his act to his family back home but the shy actor couldn’t express his whish to the producers of the show.

The 50 year old actor had promised his family in Mumbai that he would bring back four episodes of ‘24’ which premiered in New York. But he couldn’t fulfill his promise.

Anil said, “I had promised them. And I’m sure Fox would’ve given the episodes to me. In fact, they gave the first four episodes to every journalist beforehand with a secrecy clause. So I could’ve easily asked because my daughters Sonam and Rhea and my brother Sanjay were all keen to see my television debut. But I just couldn’t ask. I was too shy. Can you believe it?”

Now the only way Sonam and his family can see Anil’s debut on ‘24’ is if they download the episodes from the internet.

Anil told reporters, “I believe the episodes can be downloaded. Also ‘24’ is telecast on our channel AXN. But a few months late. I think episodes featuring me would be telecast much sooner.”

The actor, in fact, is making efforts to bring the series to Indian viewers simultaneously with the rest of the world.

Talking about his television debut in America, Anil said, “It was overwhelming. I had made sure that the Indian media was also invited on the red carpet. The impact of my appearance on ‘24’ is yet to be gauged. But I guess the show will add Asian eyeballs to the already-popular series.”

He also said, “See, you’ve to understand television in the US is not the same thing as television in India. There’re big stars on American television who actually refuse to do movies.”

Adding one more feather in his cap, the fine actor was also invited on the prestigious “Today Show”, he said, “You see, ‘24’ is a series by Fox. And the ‘Today Show’ is on a rival channel NBC. No actor from a Fox show is ever invited on the ‘Today Show’. I guess I was an exception because after ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ I’m seen to represent the Indian diaspora in the West. It’s a humbling place to be in.”

The American media is totally impressed by the Indian actor, the Los Angeles Times wrote about his role, “The most promising this season is Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor), president of the Islamic Republic of Kamistan, who is negotiating a peace treaty with US president Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones). He’s regal and decent,” wrote the Los Angeles Times.

And other Entertainment Weekly said, “The dapper Hassan …played by the wonderful Anil Kapoor, who really should go by the name of Fantastic Sam because of his incredible head of hair…”

The veteran actor is not only busy with international projects but he has many projects back home as well. So, you can say that Anil is currently at the peak of his career.

Breaking so many hearts, the Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif has declared that she will get married in 2012. Until then, she wants to have a blast while doing all the projects she has lined up.

Now, it also means that she has stopped looking for a new house. Fluttering her eyelashes the cute actress said, “I’ll get married and go to my husband’s home. Why put in so much money into a new home when I have a perfectly comfortable one at the moment?”

Though Katrina has declared her plans of getting married but she is not yet sure whether the groom will be her current boyfriend Salman Khan or someone she hasn’t met yet.
