Hollywood superstar George Clooney’s effort ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ telethon which took place on last Friday, 22 January not only attracted viewers but raised huge funds for Haiti earthquake victims. The Telethon has raised $58 million fund and still accepting donation through web, text, phone, or mail. It’s the highest fund raised by any Telethon till date.

This collection doesn’t include corporate donations or iTunes sales figures, which are still being calculated.

Presented by renowned actor George Clooney and Grammy-winning musician Wyclef Jean, the telethon took place at three different venues: London, New York and Los Angles. The two-hour telethon was heard by Haiti earthquake survivors on radio. The Telethon featured inspirational performances from Haiti-born singers like Wyclef Jean, Madonna, Jay-Z, Bono, Sting, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay and many other artists.

According to MTV.com, the “Hope for Haiti Now” album is currently the No.1 iTunes album in 18 countries, and it is the biggest one-day album pre-order in iTunes history. The studio version of “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)” is also the No.1 song on iTunes in 12 countries.

“Hope for Haiti Now” will be accepting donation for the next 6 month. This will definitely raise the fund amount which is good news for Haiti people. Not only “Hope for Haiti Now” but many organizations are collecting funds to provide relief to Haiti. Though this calamity has taken many lives but it has brought all the people from across the globe together to stand with Haiti people.
